Maternity and Paternity Leave Policies

Kadir Has University places a strong emphasis on gender equality and is dedicated to ensuring that both maternity and paternity leave are provided in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Our commitment to fostering a fair and supportive environment extends to the family and caregiving responsibilities of our employees.

Maternity leave is granted in accordance with Labor Law No. 4857, which stipulates a total of 16 weeks of maternity leave. Meanwhile, the university has taken an additional step to enhance the benefits offered to its employees. In accordance with the Kadir Has University Internal Regulation for Administrative Personnel, paternity leave is extended to 10 working days, a substantial increase from the statutory five days mandated by labor law. This expansion acknowledges the importance of paternity leave and aims to provide employees with greater flexibility to support their families during significant life events.

Moreover, the Kadir Has University Directive on Pregnancy, Maternity, and Breast-Feeding Leave and Temporary Disability has extended the duration of breast-feeding leave, which was previously set at one year, to an impressive two years. This adjustment reflects the university's strong commitment to supporting employees who have recently given birth and need time to provide essential care for their infants. It underscores our dedication to the well-being of our community members.

Throughout all its procedures and processes, Kadir Has University is dedicated to promoting equality and merit-based applications. For example, our performance and promotion criteria for academic staff members are clearly defined in relevant instructions. Specific measures aimed at supporting individuals on maternity leave, such as exemptions from annual performance evaluations, are included within these instructions, emphasizing our commitment to fair and compassionate policies for our employees.
